Ten plagues and ten Egyptian gods!!

The God of Israel is greater than all other Egyptian Gods and Goddesses.

 God reached out to the Egyptian people. He showed them his power in ways they understood and could not ignore, He demonstrated the futility and falseness of their religion, and He offered them every opportunity to turn to Him.

1. Nile water into blood 

a. Hapi: god of the Nile

2. Frogs

a. Heket, Hekhet, or Heqt: Egyptian goddess of Fertility,

Water, Renewal; frog-headed

3. Gnats or Lice from dust

a. Geb: Egyptian god of the Earth; also

b. Khepri: Egyptian god of creation, movement of the

Sun, rebirth; beetle-headed

c. Thoth: one time considered god of magic,

failed along with magicians (or priests) to duplicate

conjuring of gnats or lice.

4. Flies (gadflies)

a. Khepri: Egyptian god of resurrection, creation,

movement of the Sun, rebirth; beetle-headed

5. Cattle/livestock disease

a. Hathor: goddess of love and protection; possibly

absorbed Bat, the cow-headed goddess.

b. bull cult gods Apis, Buchis, and Mneuis

c. bulls sometimes considered embodiment of Ptah and Ra

6. Boils

a. Isis: goddess of medicine and peace

b. Im-Hotep: real person turned deity, patron of wisdom and medicine

c. Sekhmet: lion-headed deity of plagues, believed to

bring about or prevent epidemics or pestilence

7. Thunder/hail

a. Nut: Sky goddess

b. Shu: god of air; associated with calm or cooling

c. Tefnut: goddess of water/moisture; linked to sun and moon

d. Seth: associated primarily with chaos

but also thunder, the desert, and infertility.

8. Locusts

a. Senehem: possibly locust-headed, god of protection

from ravages of pests

9. Darkness

a. Ra or Amon-Ra: god of the sun

b. Horus: sky god; sun was his right eye, moon his left.

10. Death of the firstborn

a. Pharaoh himself

b. Min: god of reproduction

c. Ra: god who was believed to create all things

d. Anubis: god of the dead and embalming;

Ex 11:7 refers to no dogs barking,

possibly referring to jackal(or dog)-headed

Anubis having no power over Israelites during this plague.

God of Impossibilities!!

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5,... ",

"What are you doing my lord?" asked Sarah to Abraham who was counting something.

"I am counting the stars my dear", answered Abraham.

"Counting the stars?!!, oh my lord, is it even possible to think about counting the stars. How can you count these countless ones? Where did you get the idea of doing this?" asked Sarah looking seemingly confused.
"My dear, the Lord our God said that our descendants would be like these countless stars in the sky", said Abraham.

 

Sarah was all the more confused, shocked and reacted by laughing out loud. "How can you even think that this is possible with us, my lord? You are over 90. Your body is as good as dead and as for me, the way of woman has ceased, I can't and am no longer fit to bear children. Why would our Lord say so when He knows all these?", she asked.

"Sarah, He is our creator! He can create anything from nothing! Remember He changed our names from Abiram to Abraham and Sarai to Sarah? The creation started from that point in us dear. All the dead things have started to function in us and we are getting fitter day by day. The Lord told me this and now I trust in Him. Trust in Him Sarah, we will have descendants as countless as these stars", Abraham replied.

This is the possible conversation that must have happened between Abraham and Sarah. God promised the impossible (according to man) to Abraham but with God all things are possible. In our lives many things may seem impossible and dead but remember our God is a God of impossibilities. He will make all things happen, all we need to do is trust in his promises.

Trust in the Lord and don't despair, He is a friend so true to you,
No matter what your troubles are, Jesus will see you through!!

Rainbow!!

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you  and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

  And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

Gen 9:8-13

A rainbow is an arc of light separated into bands of color (parallel stripes) that appear when the Sun's rays are refracted and reflected by drops of mist or rain. The colors of the rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. These are the full spectrum of colors that make up the sun's white light. Thus, rainbow is a multicolored arc of light in sky.

Most of us, if not all, as a child must have been excited to see a rainbow in the sky and marvel at its splendid beauty and wondered where it came from. Rainbows have always fascinated humans every since the early days and as such, have been the subject of songs, poems, stories and mythology.

It is mentioned in the Holy Bible in The book of Genesis (Gen 9: 8-17) where the rainbow is the sign of covenant between God and all life on Earth .  

Lord when I look at the Rainbow you have placed in sky so
blue, it reminds me that all your promises are true
Your Rainbow reminds me that those who believe on you
are few, yet you have called us your little Ewe
 
Lord when I look at the Rainbow I see it's hue, it reminds
me that your love for us true
Your Rainbow in sky so blue, reminds me to keep praying
through
 
Lord when I look at the Rainbow it reminds me of your
promise to all of your creatures some of whom are of
different features
Your Rainbow and it's many colors reminds me that it
represents some whom are called colored
 
Lord when I look at your Rainbow and see how it's colors
are bright, it reminds me to do what is right
Your Rainbow I have never seen at night, this reminds me
to stay in the light
 
Lord when I look at your Rainbow it reminds me of your grief
because of our unbelief
Your Rainbow have no pot of gold, but your wonderful story
of love it has told
 
 Lord when I Look at your Rainbow it reminds that you
promised to never again destroy the World with a flood
Your Rainbow to me is a sign of your love it represents
your Son's life Blood
