Be still and know!!

Jacob, an interesting character in the bible. A man who had seen both the shores meaning had been a deceiver and was later deceived. A person who knew what it is to be like both. God's blessing was that the older will serve the younger about Esau and Jacob when they were in Rebekah's womb. Yet the anxiety and the fear that God's word may not come to pass which is actually unbelief, made him to deceive. Rebekah too was so anxious to fulfill God's word in her own strength that she decided to put Jacob in place of Esau and take the curse if any.

If God had said that the older will serve the younger then it would be so no matter what. But the situation seemed otherwise. There was in no way Jacob could be blessed above Esau since Jacob was younger and as per rules of the world and as per the rights of the first born, Esau was to be blessed double portion. Also he was liked by Isaac more than Jacob so it was obvious that Esau would inherit the blessings of the first born without any doubt. There was no chance that Jacob would be above Esau. But what would happen to God's promise? God's words cannot lie. How can we let that happen? We need to make God's word come to pass in our strength even if we have to take in the curse. That was the thought of Rebekah.

Do you think God's word wouldn't have come to pass without intervention of Rebekah or Jacob's betrayal of Esau? God would definitely have changed the situation and turned the events so that Jacob would have received the blessing of the first born and his word that the older will serve the younger would have happened without all these running around and getting deceived for Jacob. In God's time and in God's plan all things would have happened smoothly and effortlessly. All the 20 yrs Jacob had to work for Laban wouldn't have happened.

Friends, is there anything God has promised to you and you feel it cannot happen since the situation seems so? Do not fear, do not panic, do not try anything in your strength to make it to happen. There is a God almighty who knows what should happen when and how. He will make it all happen so beautifully in his own time not in your time according to his perfect will and not yours. When He makes it happen everything will be perfect in our lives.

So wait upon the Lord for his will to come to pass and be still and know that he is God!!

Amen! Hallelujah!!

Brother's keeper or my keeper's brother!!

A married couple were arguing who is making the coffee, the wife said that in the Bible it says that men should make the coffee and the husband asked her where it said that. The wife opened the Bible and said: "Right here in HEBREWS!"

Q: Why do they say 'Amen' at the end of a prayer instead of 'Awomen'?

A: The same reason they sing Hymns instead of Hers!

The story of Adam and Eve was being carefully explained in the children's Sunday School class. Following the story, the children were asked to draw some picture that would illustrate the story. Little Bobby drew a picture of a car with three people in it. In the front seat was a man and in the back seat, a man and a woman. The teacher was at a loss to understand how this illustrated the lesson of Adam and Eve. Little Bobby was prompt with his explanation. "Why, this is God driving Adam and Eve out of the garden!"

One day the zoo-keeper noticed that the monkey was reading two books - the Bible and Darwin's The Origin of Species. In surprise he asked the ape, "Why are you reading both those books"? "Well," said the monkey, "I just wanted to know if I was my brother's keeper or my keeper's brother."

 Have fun!!

God bless!!

Face of God!!

So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”         Gen 32:30

Peniel means face of God. Jacob was considered a deceiver. He deceived Esau and got the first born right. He also deceived Isaac and got the blessings from him leaving nothing for Esau. But later in his life we see that there was waiting another greater deceiver than Jacob to deceive him, his uncle Laban. Laban deceived Jacob by switching Leah for Rachael and made him work another 7 yrs. He changed his wages 10 times deceivingly. Jacob had met his match and had had enough.

He wanted to return to his family. To his brother and ask for his forgiveness. He remembers God's promise to him and his vision at Bethel. He takes up his belongings, his cattle, his children and wives that God had given and starts out to meet Esau. When the time came near to meet Esau, he sent his family and the gifts but he himself stayed back. He wanted to be sure what he was going to do was right. Just wanted assurance from God. So he stayed back. Fear of Esau was gripping him.

There is a story of a little girl who was celebrating her birthday. Her parents got her a lovely pink frock with beautiful beads on it. She was so  happy about that. She had a box full of chocolates for her friends. She sings happily and runs to her neighbours to give away the chocolates. She sees her friends and is very happy and starts to play with them. Time passes by and it becomes dark soon. She then realizes that she has strayed far from her house. She turns to return. It is dark every where. She is scared now.

All the happiness she found in her dress and chocolates has left her. She is no more happy that she is wearing a new pink frock nor the chocolates she has is making her happy. All she wants is get back to her mother's arms. Fear of being lost has taken away her happiness. Finally after walking and running in the dark she manages to find her home and her mother waiting for her worriedly. She runs to her and embraces her. What a Joy!! It is the same with many of us, we are lost in this world but when we find God's face we are like that child who found the mother.

Jacob was not happy at this point with the livestock and his family that he had got after all these years. He just wanted to see God and get his blessing. Many of us are like that, all that we have earned in this world will not keep us happy unless we see the face of God!

We read that Jacob wrestles with a man through out the night and overcomes. The deceiver has now become the overcomer.  Jacob now becomes Israel. What a change!! He wrestles with God and changes his future. He gets the assurance from God himself. He sees the face of God!

Many of us would be in such a situation. Many of us would have been deceivers and many of us would have been deceived too. All of us will come to the place of Peniel in our lives at some point. We need to look into the face of God and repent and receive his blessing for us to go on. If we miss that point then the fear of man will consume us and we will not receive God's blessing. Seek his face every day and receive from him the strength and wisdom needed to go through that day.

No disaster came upon Jacob alias Israel from that day on. He was blessed as God said he would be. God will bless you too. He knows what you need and will make all things happen for us. All we need to do is seek his face and overcome all our fears by his grace and strength.

Amen!! Hallelujah!!

Walk in Freedom

I will always obey your law, for ever and ever.
I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.
                                                     Ps 119:44-45

To be able to walk in freedom, wow! How much do people yearn for this kind of walk! People walk in slavery, bondage and in various kinds of captivity in this world knowingly and unknowingly. People need to be liberated, people need freedom and it is easy to obtain. All we need to do is obey the law of our Lord.

The law of the Lord may seem difficult to obey but the freedom it gives when we follow it is amazing. There will be no fear in us about anything since we will be assured that our God is in control of all things happening in our lives. He is the creator and very well knows what we need or what needs to be done or what is best for you.

Every person feels the need to be liberated. We read of nations fight for their freedom when they were subdued by others. Man was created to be a free man. The devil cunningly subdued him and has enslaved him. Jesus came to set the captives free. Free from sin, free from diseases, free from curses, free from bondage etc.

Word of God alone brings about this freedom. Obey the Lord and be set free. Joseph was sold by his brothers and went through hardships and finally was thrown into a jail for something he had never done. The devil's plan was to keep him subdued there because the devil knew the potential inside Joseph, the potential of a king who could lead his people to freedom. But Joseph did not remain subdued. He obeyed the law of the Lord and came out as a king, second in command, next to Pharaoh. Liberated his people from the upcoming famines, troubles etc.

Our lives will be a liberated one if we just obey the law of the Lord. May be many of you who are reading this are in bondage, be set free this moment, just obey the law of the Lord and you will see yourself walking in freedom as Kings and Queens.

Amen!! Hallelujah!!
