Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has
come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you
from sinning."
Exodus 20:20
God tests us many times so that the fear of God will be in us, with us so that we will keep away form sin.
Isn't that wonderful. He is a caring God. He wants us to be kept away from sin. So He makes sure that He puts you through some tests now and then when He feels that the fear of God in you has decreased.
He doesn't want to see you suffer or get hurt. He doesn't test you for that. His mercy will be with us and His Grace will uphold us when we are tested. We will not be thrown into sin when God tests us but will be kept away from sinning because the fear of God will be made to increase in us.
People of Israel were tested many a times by God himself. He loved His people so much. He just wanted them to praise Him, adore Him and accept Him as their God. Instead we read that they were continually murmuring and testing Him for meager things of this world like food and water. God had eternal things in mind for His people but they could not see anything beyond food and water.
How are we today? Are we like those Israelites? Are our needs and worry about what we eat and what we drink? Are we refusing to see what our Heavenly Father has kept for us? So when we are tested let us examine ourselves. Has the fear of God decreased in our lives? Are we doing something that God would not approve?
Fear God!! Keep away for Sin!!
Amen!! Hallelujah!!
