Good and merciful God!!

Psalms 136:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Psalms 136:23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:

Our God is a good God. There can be listed umpteen numbers of reasons for this statement. Here the psalmist says many reasons too; one such reason is that his mercy endures forever. He is a merciful God thus a good God. This world where humanity thrives is full of sin. Adam let the sin in when he disobeyed God, the Father. God had been merciful to Adam too. He did not destroy Adam but let him live on and the best thing was God sent his only begotten son Jesus to die for this sinful mankind so as to reconcile us to God the Father.

Our God is a good God because his mercy endures forever! Our God is a good God also because he remembers us in our low estate and his mercy endures forever. To be remembered when we are well off and doing well in all things is good. There is no doubt that people won’t remember to have your presence in their celebrations and other happenings in their life when you are shining. But when you are down and are in a defeated state of life and struggling to make the ends meet; how many will come up to you and let alone lift you, even talk to you?

All the close friends and relatives will have a number of valid reasons to just avoid you when you are in your low estate. It would be so right for them to keep you away from their celebrations and get together. All the hurt and disappointment that we feel when we are in our low estate has to be kept to ourselves as there will not be anybody there to share. But our God remembers us in such a time. He not only remembers us but also stoops down to lift us up and put us in a higher place that we even cannot imagine. Our God is a good God. He is a loving Father. He will not let us, his children, be in a low estate. Be assured of this.

If anyone of you, who is reading this, are in a low estate; do not worry! Our Lord Jesus Christ is waiting to comfort you, lift you from your state of lowly and put you up in high place.

Hence rejoice and be merry!! Our God is a good and merciful God!!
